Mr. Eugene Hon Kah Weng
Independent Non - Executive Director
Mr. Eugene Hon was appointed to the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director (“INED”) on 1 March 2021. He has extensive experience in audit, investment banking, finance, insurance, leasing, money broking, consumer financing as well as central banking. He is the Chairman of the Board Audit Committee.
He was the Manager in charge of the audits of the largest banking group, the national airline, the federal land development authority and various manufacturing and trading companies. During his thirteen (13) years in the profession, he acquired sound knowledge in corporate governance, internal controls and business operations.
Mr. Eugene Hon left the accounting profession in 1991 to assume the position as Group Financial Controller with a financial services group where he gained extensive experience in the areas of investment banking, finance, insurance, leasing, money broking and consumer financing. During his sixteen (16) years with the group, he acquired invaluable knowledge and skills in finance (treasury products and management, banking products and operations, credit management, money and insurance broking), risk management and corporate governance. In 2011, he joined the Central Bank as Finance Director. While with these organisations, he gained extensive experience in management, finance, risk management and corporate governance.
Presently, he is an INED of Kawan Food Berhad which is listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
Mr. Eugene Hon is a Chartered Accountant, a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants as well as a member of the Malaysian Association of Certified Public Accountants (now renamed as the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Certified Malaysian Futures & Options Registered Representative.
